The European Union’s General Data Protection Regulation (GDPR) is one of the most important international legislative changes in data protection in decades. The purpose of the regulation is to increase the individual’s rights to manage and process their personal data and to harmonise legislation within the European Union.

The GDPR applies to all companies that process personal data of EU citizens. The GDPR applies to all personal data, regardless of whether it is processed manually or automatically. The GDPR also applies to personal data that is processed outside the EU, if the data is related to the offering of goods or services to EU citizens or the monitoring of their behaviour.
